Digital Art Workshops
Lovebytes delivered a series of public workshops between 27 June and 4 July 2009 aimed at encouraging young people and their parents to get creative with digital technology. These workshops were part of Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival in Sheffield and built on the methods used in the Avatars project for a broader age range and explored a wider range of technologies and techniques.

Avatars at Sheffield Children's Festival
We’ve just done a photo shoot at Sheffield Town Hall for the Sheffield Children’s Festival. The Avatars project is going to be featured across a range of festival publicity. Look out for our characters on festival posters and programmes very soon.

Stage 3 Workshops
We’re now working with a smaller group of 9 children from Hunter’s Bar Junior School. The children, aged 7-8 yrs, are making interactive art and games using the Scratch programming language.

Making Interactive Art from Scratch
The second stage of our workshops at Hunter’s Bar Junior School involved taking digital images of the characters, that the children had designed, onto the school computers. We then introduced each class to the Scratch programming environment where they were able to create animation and visual effects.
